A one-of-a-kind piece of artwork got snatched from a shop during a break-in at Seattle’s Pike Place Market, and the owner is offering a reward to get it back.
Someone smashed their way into Madame Lazonga’s Tattoo on Thursday night or possibly Friday morning.

Among the items taken was a rare marionette made in the likeness of the shop’s owner, Vyvyn Lazonga, an internationally acclaimed tattoo artist known as Seattle’s First Lady of Tattoo.
The stolen marionette is an almost two-foot-tall likeness of the Madame. It hung from its strings above the front desk, complete with Lazonga’s red hair and tattoos painted on her arms.
Seattle police said aside from the marionette, about $1,200 in tattooing equipment was also stolen from one of the three stations, but next to nothing else was removed.
Lazonga cherishes the unique artwork and is offering a $500 reward for its return.
Lazonga was a pioneer in tattooing as far back as 1972, when very few women were in the industry. A description on the Pike Place Market website attributes her artistic inspiration to “elements of the natural world, cultural motifs, the spiritual, and the sublime.”
She has been known to create stunning floral designs but also built a reputation around offering post-mastectomy scars for woman who have battled breast cancer. Clients describe Lazonga’s shop as a place of healing and calm.Seattle police said the case remains an open and active investigation.
