THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of western Washington, coming just days after a deadly fall storm.
The advisory is issued for the Cascade areas of Whatcom and Skagit counties from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Snow levels drop between elevations above 4,500 feet and 5,000 overnight, with a total of 6 to 8 inches expected of snow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall early Wednesday morning, according to the NWS.
People in those areas should be cautious of slippery road conditions. If traveling through the impacted areas, drivers are urged to slow down and use caution on the roadways.
Over the weekend, a powerful atmospheric river caused widespread power outages and brought snow in the Cascades.
Winds whipped across western Washington leaving approximately 200,000 residents without power. One person was killed in Pierce County by a falling tree at a Halloween event.
Some neighbors in Washington are going on several days without power.
