The Opportunity:
The Reports Designer/Developer serves as a report application and database developer with a focus on licensing data and products. This position supports the need for useful foster care licensing reporting from WA CAP and FamLink source systems through the design, development, and implementation of reports that incorporate licensing administrative data and their intersection with other child welfare client and provider data.

Some of what you will get to do:
  • Provide technical consultation to the customer on potential reporting solutions that can meet their need identifying the pros and cons of each solution.
  • Design Extract Transform and Load (ETL) transformation logic specific to reporting needs.
  • Assist in the implementation and transition to a cloud-based data solution in Azure.
  • Design report layout(s), define parameters that allow users to build their own custom report, and develop data reporting systems[DA1] .
  • Create data structures to integrate reports into DCYF’s report navigation application.
  • Debug and maintain code for existing reports, which can involve reverse engineering of existing SQL code.
  • Analyze and define data requirements and specifications to design, normalize, develop and implement multi-user reporting databases.
  • Plan, develop, implement, test and maintain data structures using Transact SQL, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, and/or Visual Studio[DA2] .
  • Design, develop, and maintain data reporting systems and business intelligence solutions for licensing data.
  • Work closely with the licensing-focused staff across OIAA and the product team.
Required Qualifications:
Four (4) years of IT experience, consulting, analyzing, designing, coding and/or maintaining software applications and/or databases, and providing technical support in Information Technology.
*(Experience may substitue in lieu of education year for year)
 
AND
Three (3) years of experience developing reports using a Business Intelligence reporting tool (SQL Server Reporting Services) including Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio and implementing Report Models.

AND
  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Three years or more of recent experience working with relational databases (SQL server preferred).
  • Three years or more of experience writing T-SQL.
  • Two years or more of recent experience working with star schema Data Warehouse databases.
In addition to the requirements above, our ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following:
  • Experience working with WA CAP datasets, models and topics and/or FamLink datasets, models and topics.
  • Experience testing complex reports and reporting systems.
  • Experience using an automated flowcharting tool such as MS Visio.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business of foster care licensing and/or child welfare.
