The Classification and Compensation team within the Human Resources Division is currently recruiting for an intern to support classification and compensation activities.
We are one of the most public facing state agencies and the second largest revenue generating agency in Washington State. We regularly interact with over 6 million Washington residents. We advance public safety and consumer protection through licensing, regulation, and education, and collect over $3 billion in revenue.

Duties
Through strategic partnership with leadership, data-informed analysis, and adherence to applicable laws and policies, the Classification and Compensation team delivers programs that are defensible, sustainable, and responsive to the Department of Licensing's evolving needs. As the Classification and Compensation Intern you will support these activities by participating in position description audits, classification and compensation reviews and meetings, and file management. Some of your time will be spent shadowing the team during consultations with managers to understand agency needs, process flow, and compliance requirements.
Some of what you will do:- Assist with requesting, filing, and tracking position descriptions for positions.
- Assist with tracking hiring freeze request documentation.
- Audit the position files for missing information, and scan documentation for electronic conversion.
- Take notes on developing SOPs, PRR interviews, salary consultations, PD Review Discussions.
Qualifications
What you will bring:

- Prior to a new hire, a pre-employment screening, including criminal record history, will be conducted. Information from the pre-employment check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- This position required a minimum of 8 hours a week in-office at our Thurston county locations. More hours per week are allowed, but please consider this minimum and your ability to work Monday-Friday during business hours prior to applying.
