SEATTLE —An accident in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood Saturday night resulted in the death of a teenage boy and left three others hospitalized with serious injuries, the Seattle Police Department eports.
At 10:09 p.m., officers were called to a single-car crash at East Marginal Way S. and South Spokane St. Upon arrival, police found a car overturned with a 16-year-old girl driver trapped inside. A teen boy had been ejected from the vehicle and was in critical condition, while two other boys had managed to escape the car on their own with serious injuries.
Investigations by the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad revealed that the car had exited southbound State Route 99 at Harbor Island, struck the ramp barrier, and plunged approximately 80 feet off the overpass before landing upside down.
Seattle Fire Department medics freed the trapped driver, and all four four teens were taken to Harborview Medical Center. Despite lifesaving efforts, the ejected teen died from his injuries at the hospital. The other three remain hospitalized in serious or critical condition.Detectives are currently investigating whether speed, impairment, or weather conditions contributed to the crash.
