SEATTLE —An 88-year-old woman was hospitalized after a brutal attack on her back porch in South Seattle on Monday night, the Seattle Police Department says.
The woman was cleaning household items at her home in the 9900 block of 64th Ave. S., when a man approached, demanding her belongings. After she refused, the man assaulted her repeatedly and dragged her into her garage, where the attack continued. He then stole her personal property and fled the scene of the crime.

The victim, who screamed for help, told officers she feared for her life, saying, “She thought he [the suspect] was going to try to kill her.”
The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
Despite assistance from Seattle police, officers from Burien and Tukwila, and the King County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, described as a man in his 30s, remains at large.
