SEATTLE —A sports trifecta in SODO this weekend is sure to cause traffic and crowds.

Whether by bus, train, or even water taxi,King County MetroandSound Transithave been preparing to usher thousands of Seattle sports fans in and out of SODO.
“The number one tip that we have for people is to plan ahead and make sure that their travel plans are locked in,” said Jeff Switzer, a spokesperson for King County Metro. “So, when you’re coming downtown, have extra time in your schedule so you don’t miss the first pitch, you don’t miss the kickoff.”
Fans are expecting chaos and fun when both the Seahawks and Mariners host at home on Sunday.
“I’ve read that there’s going to be 100,000 people in the streets,” Amelia Hagen continued, “It’s pretty fun, it’s pretty awesome. I think if people plan ahead and their expectations are managed in that way; it can be a great and safe time for everyone.”
Sound Transit is offering extra Sounder service to and from Lumen Field on Saturday and Sunday before and after both teams’ games.
As for after the games, fans are expecting a lot of congestion.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of people departing at the same time if this adventure ends the way we want it to,” said Tom Hagen, wearing his Mariners gear.
To help accommodate the large crowds post-game, King County Metro is offering additional bus services.
“After the game, we want to make sure everyone gets home. It takes a little bit more patience as everyone’s trying to rush out of the stadium and get to the trains and the buses,” Switzer explained. “We’re going to make sure everybody gets home safely.”
The Hagen family, who describe themselves as huge Mariners fans, is driving in from Tacoma again on Sunday for Game 2.
But there are other options for those looking to stay away from roads altogether.
Sunday will be the last chance to catch theKing County Water Taxifor its late-night summer service between West Seattle and Downtown. Final sailings will depart from Pier 50 at 10:45 p.m.“We’re hoping to see hundreds and hundreds of people take advantage of that water taxi throughout the day and also after the games,” Switzer said.
