SEATTLE, Wash. —Minimum wage is going up in Seattle starting Jan. 1, gaining half a dollar more than 2025’s minimum.
Seattle’s Minimum Wage Ordinance,effective since April 1, 2015, mandates annual increases in the minimum wage every Jan. 1.

On Jan. 1, 2026, all employers in Seattle must pay a minimum wage of $21.30, regardless of business size, and cannot count tips or medical benefit payments toward minimum compensation.
In 2025, the minimum was set as $20.76, meaning an increase of 0.51 cents for the upcoming year.
The Office of Labor Standards announces these adjustments each fall, reflecting inflation rates based on the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Area Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
Other cities may have different minimum wages, which can be found on theWashington State Department of Labor & Industries website.Within the larger state of Washington, the state’s required minimum wage is $16.66 per hour as of 2025, and will rise to $17.13 per hour on Jan. 1, 2026.
