SEATTLE —Ghouls may be out on Halloween weekend, but don’t become a zombie waiting in traffic.
The southbound lanes of I-5 over the Ship Canal Bridge will be reduced to two lanes.
This weekend is the second of six weekend-long lane reductions that stretch into January.
Crews will also close and reduce lanes on parts of Interstate 405 in Renton and Kirkland starting Friday.
What you need to know: Ship Canal Bridge
Starting as early as 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, southbound I-5 across the bridge will be reduced to two lanes until Monday, Nov. 3, at 5 a.m. The lane reductions extend roughly from the NE 45th St/NE 50th St exit to the State Route 520 interchange.
Crews will install new drainage improvements along the southbound bridge deck.
To ease congestion, the express lanes will run southbound 24 hours a day all weekend. Because the lanes will not reverse northbound in the afternoon as usual, travelers in both directions of I-5 through Seattle may see delays.
The southbound Ship Canal Bridge will also be reduced to two lanes 24 hours a day on these dates:

What you need to know: I-405 closures
SouthboundI-405 will be closed in Renton from North Southport Drive/Sunset Boulevard Northeast to SR 167 beginning at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, until 4 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3.
Then, as many as three lanes ofnorthbound I-405will close nightly between NE 124th St near Totem Lake, and NE 160th St near Woodinville, from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, then from 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, to 8 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, and again at 8 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3.
Crews will be doing work as part of theI-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
The following ramps will also be closed:
Northeast 128th Street Express Toll Lane off-ramp
Northeast 160th Street off-ramp (Exit 22)
Northbound I-405 off-ramp to SR 522 (Exit 23)
The I-405 closures will be rescheduled if there is poor weather, but the work on the Ship Canal Bridge will continue.
