LACEY, Wash. — Police arrested a Lacey man Tuesday on accusations of illegally manufacturing firearms with a 3D printer and making violent threats against law enforcement, according to police.
Detectives executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home on Pattison Lake, where they discovered multiple 3D-printed guns loaded with live ammunition that were capable of firing, investigators said.
Due to violent online threats attributed to the suspect, Lacey police brought SWAT team backup when executing the search warrant. According to detectives, the man publicly posted warnings earlier this year directed at law enforcement.
“If those antiquated pigs attempt to arrest me, I will paint the ground with them,” one post read, according to investigators. Another stated, “You should never show up at my place of abode, unless you want to leave in a body bag.”
During the search, authorities also seized what are believed to be 3D-printed knives and grenades described as World War II replicas.
Investigators say they found doors and windows inside the home that had been altered to potentially work as barricades.
The arrest came after detectives discovered online evidence suggesting the man owned a company offering IT support and 3D printing services. On another website, investigators found posts they believe were made by the suspect showing gun parts he had 3D-printed.
As a convicted felon, the suspect was already prohibited from possessing firearms. Manufacturing firearms on a 3D printer is also illegal in Washington state.
The case remains under investigation as prosecutors review potential charges while he remains in custody at the Thurston County jail, held on $10,000 bail.
The man has not been charged with any new crimes and is therefore not being identified by We.
