SEATTLE – All of Washington’s sports superstars will be in one room this month.
The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) is honoring Washington’s top athletes at this year’s 91st annual Sports Star of the Year Awards. The awards show takes place at the Seattle Convention Center.
The event highlights the state’s best athletes, top team achievements and unmissable moments from 2025.
Deemed “Washington’s biggest night out for sports,” this year’s event is hosted by sports media personality and former ESPN sports anchor Kenny Mayne.
We is streaming the pre-show red carpet, hosted by We’s Paul Silvi and Chris Egan, from Media Row with sports legends from the present and past. Tune in on seattlekr.com and the We app from 6-7 p.m. tonight.

The event was created in 1935 by sports editor Royal Brougham and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Dozens of golden trophies await as athletes and leaders in the sports sphere.
Among the accolades is the Royal Brougham Sports Legend Award, which the committee awards to someone who excels in their sport and exemplifies the spirit of Washington state. This year’s nominees are Kasey Keller and Michelle Akers.
The Keith Jackson Media Excellence Award for excellence in communicating sports stories in Washington will be presented to the family of legendary Seattle sportscaster Tony Ventrella. Ventrella died in 2024.

This year, the award will be given to Mike and Kathy Holmgren. Mike led the Seattle Seahawks to their first Super Bowl, but as a couple, the Holmgrens have helped communities in Mexico, eastern Europe and Africa. They also helped launch Circlewood, a Pacific Northwest nonprofit supporting sustainability and environment-conscious ways of life.
