The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of On-Call ARNP/PA Advanced Care Practitioner for the  Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, WA. This position may be filled by a Physician Assistant-Certified or an Advance Care Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
 
Under the supervision of the health services manager (HSM), Facility Medical Director (FMD), this position contributes to the agency's mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives through the delivering of quality healthcare to the coyote Ridge correction center (CRCC) patient population in a timely and professional manner, promote a healthy lifestyle, and provide patient healthcare education period this includes assessing, diagnosing, and treating the multitude of medical issues encountered. The position monitors, manages, coordinates, and delivers healthcare; And councils, consults, teaches, advises, and provides healthcare management to the patient that improves the quality and continuity of health services, supervises, and monitors all levels of healthcare services delivered to the incarcerated population and assists the HSMs and the FMD in monitoring expenditures, planning, and organizing healthcare services, facilities, and other programs.

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care.

Correctional Health is a rewarding career path at DOC, in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing in a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within all of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal, providing the best, most efficient, and cost-effective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns, care for acute and chronic health problems, and preventive care.

Duties

Duties will include:

Under the supervision of a qualified physician, provide primary routine, urgent and emergent medical care, including diagnostic, therapeutic prevention and health maintenance services.

• Diagnose health related problems and determine outcome.
• Ensure continuity of care.
• Implement plan of care by providing direct patient care.
• Analyze and evaluate the structure, process, and timeframes for service delivery; the expected effects of treatment or intervention; the outcomes to be achieved; revision of the plan of care to prevent complications; and intervention to address new or emergent problems or to improve care and service delivery.
• Perform minor surgical procedures and suture of simple lacerations.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic laboratory tests and x-rays.
• Prescribe medications.

Complete Screenings/Physical Exams

• Complete initial screening.

Provide effective communication and documentation.

Actively participate in clinically wide coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) projects and programs.

Delegate and assign patient responsibility through appropriate communication to the nurses and assistive nursing personnel.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants.

OR

• Must possess a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse AND possession of a current license designated as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the state of Washington.

AND

• Must hold unrestricted license to practice as a midlevel practitioner and prescribe scheduled drugs.
• Licensure (PA-C, RN, ARNP) must be valid and continuously unrestricted.
