Salary Range: $7,740 - $8,976 Monthly

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor (CMPS) at Airway Heights Corrections Center, located in Airway Heights, WA.  AHCC is an adult male incarcerated prison corrections facility located approximately 10 miles west of Spokane, WA.

AHCC consists of a main facility that houses medium- and long-term minimum-custody I/I's.  A separate perimeter adjacent to the main facility accommodates a minimum-security unit for I/I's with minimum-custody or lower.

As a Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor, some of your duties will include: 

• Direct, supervise, train, evaluate, and instruct inmates on repair, maintenance and construction of building structures, roofs, roads, walkways, driveways, concrete masonry, fences, gates and painting.
• Train inmates on the safe and proper use of hand and power tools, lifts, scaffolds, equipment, caulks, sealants, personal protective equipment and other tools used. 
• Follow safety and security procedures, comply with DOC Policies, facility operations, memorandums, building codes, L&I laws, EPA regulations and all other regulations.
• Develop drawings, sketches, estimate materials and personnel cost for projects, secure bids from building and supply vendors. 
• Inspect buildings, fixtures and grounds determining needs for repairs and maintenance.
• Operate equipment i.e. trucks, backhoe, unloader, tractor, forklift, man lifts.
• Keep time and material records, plan coordinate and supervise scheduling of other trades in projects maintenance of the institution.
• Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, develop design drawings and project estimates.
• Establish and prioritize performance expectations for staff.
• Conduct timely performance evaluations as regulated and provide ongoing directions, coaching, and guidance to staff.
• Effectively address employee performance and misconduct issues and takes appropriate action.
• Order sufficient required materials to accomplish assigned task.
• Document work performed including necessary records of work crew hours, performance and safety training.
• Operate and maintain or supervise maintenance of construction tools and equipment.
• Other duties as directed.

Telework Details

This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time.  Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite.  Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
