Sample Interview Questions and Answers

Question 1: A patient reports a food allergy and requests an accommodation. How would you handle this situation?

I would immediately notify our kitchen staff and supervisor of the situation. To ensure the patient's safety, we would work together to prepare a separate meal that meets their dietary needs. I would also review our food safety policies to ensure we are complying with all relevant regulations. Additionally, I would provide education to the patients on proper food handling and preparation techniques to prevent cross-contamination. In order to maintain a safe environment, I would also inform other staff members about the patient's allergy so they can be aware of it.

Question 2: You notice that a kitchen employee is not following proper cleaning procedures for a food cart. What steps would you take?

First, I would politely remind the employee to follow our established protocols for cleaning and sanitizing the food cart. If they continue to neglect their responsibilities, I would speak with my supervisor about the issue. Together, we would develop a plan to ensure that all kitchen staff understand and adhere to our food safety standards. This might involve additional training or re-enforcing the importance of proper cleaning procedures in maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff alike.

Question 3: A patient expresses dissatisfaction with the quality of their meal. How would you respond?

I would listen attentively to the patient's concerns and apologize if we fell short of their expectations. I would then ask if there was anything specific that they were looking for in terms of food quality or presentation. This feedback would allow us to identify areas where we can improve our service. If necessary, I would also involve other kitchen staff or my supervisor in the conversation to ensure a solution is found and implemented promptly. By listening actively and taking swift action, we aim to provide excellent customer service and build trust with our patients.
