Sample Interview Questions and Answers

Question 1: How would you approach supporting a client who exhibits high-intensity behaviors and requires immediate intervention?

In this scenario, I would first ensure my own safety by maintaining a safe distance from the client and staying calm. Then, I would try to de-escalate the situation by using verbal communication techniques such as active listening, empathy, and clear instructions. If necessary, I would also use physical interventions such as redirecting the client or providing a safe space for them to process their emotions. After the crisis has passed, I would debrief with the client and provide support to help them manage their stress and anxiety in the future.

Question 2: How do you ensure that clients are receiving accurate and timely medication administration?

To ensure accurate and timely medication administration, I would first review the client's medication schedule and dosages with their caregiver or physician. Then, I would use a systematic approach to administer medications, such as using a pill box or automated dispensing system to track doses and schedules. Before administering each dose, I would verify the identity of the client and the medication, and ensure that they are aware of any potential side effects. Finally, I would document all medication administration in the client's electronic record and communicate with caregivers or physicians as necessary.

Question 3: How do you prioritize and manage multiple clients' needs and behaviors during a shift?

To prioritize and manage multiple clients' needs and behaviors, I would first assess each client's level of need and priority. Then, I would create a plan to allocate my time and resources effectively, such as grouping similar tasks or activities together. During the shift, I would regularly check in with each client to ensure their needs are being met and make adjustments as necessary. If conflicts or crisis situations arise, I would use problem-solving skills and communicate with colleagues or supervisors for support. Finally, at the end of the shift, I would review my progress and make notes on areas for improvement for future shifts.
