Salary:   $61,404.00 - $82,512.00 Annually Yearly.  The salary does not include an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Program Specialist 4 to provide substance use disorder treatment and prevention services within Echo Glen Children’s Center, a Juvenile Rehabilitation medium/maximum security facility that provides treatment and reentry programming services for younger offenders.

As a Substance Use Disorder Professional, you will provide individual and group counseling, referral, and case management services, to include re-entry and transition planning. You will be a member of the Multidisciplinary Disciplinary Team (MDT), use evidenced-based treatment and prevention models, assessments and screens, and document activities as required in the Automated Client Tracking system.

Some of what you will do:

• Complete substance use assessments and diagnose substance use disorders.
• Provide individual and group counseling, referral, and case management services, timely documentation in case files, assessments and diagnosing, treatment planning, consultation with other clinical professionals and discharge planning.
• Recommend placement into substance use disorder prevention and treatment based upon level of care indicated by assessment.
• Inform referral source (with required release of information) of the outcome of the assessment and treatment recommendations.
• Assist with intake documentation as necessary and maintain the same in the ACT or electronic health record.
• Maintain safety and security while providing treatment; recognize symptoms of psychiatric distress and intervene to de-escalate using RA approved methods and techniques to maintain safety of youth within a juvenile justice mental health treatment milieu in individual and group settings.
• Place clients with appropriate clinicians for the development of an Individualized Treatment Plan and/or Case Management Plan of Care.
• Serve on the Institution’s multi-disciplinary team to support treatment of youth with co-occurring disorders.
• Serve as SUDP/SUDPT for their assigned facility.
• Provide clinical consultation for SUD services to include admission and, assessment and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Equivalent education and/or experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs, totaling at least 4.5 years, AND must obtain the SUDPT Credential within three months of hire.
OR
An Associate's Degree or equivalent course work in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, or a related field, AND four years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs, AND have a current SUDP Credential.
OR
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Healthcare Administration or a related field, AND two years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs, AND have a current SUDP or SUDPT Credential.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree and/or license in psychology, social work, public health, healthcare administration, human services and other related fields of social sciences.
• Three years of experience in SUD prevention/treatment, juvenile justice/social service positions with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs.
• Three years of professional experience with adolescents and families with substance abuse disorders.
• Previously demonstrated professional experience with cognitive behavioral interventions in a social services or treatment setting.
• Previously demonstrated knowledge and skill with assessment and treatment applications of best-practice principles and strategies associated with trauma-informed and culturally responsive treatment, cognitive behavioral theory, social learning theory, and mindfulness-based practices.
• Previously demonstrated knowledge, experience, and personal insight about racial justice, system inequity, disparities and disproportionality in legal systems, and the post-traumatic impact of racial discrimination.
• Previously demonstrated ability to coach and support others.

This position requires a minimum of at least two years of driving experience and a valid driver’s license.
SUDPT must have an updated yearly training plan completed by the Clinical Administrator. SUDPT must be actively pursuing the experience requirements under RCW 19.205.090 and be enrolled in a Department of Health licensing approved education program.
