We are excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for the position of Grants Analyst, Management Analyst 5 (MA5)! In this role you would be responsible for agency-wide administrative management of grants in WDVA.
Please note: Anticipated work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, at the primary location of our Central Office in Olympia. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework based on business needs, as approved by the appointing authority. The position will still require in-person presence.
*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

Duties
Some of what you'll be doing:
- Establishes and maintains files of proposals and current grants.
- Accumulates statistics for grant proposals.
- Notifies all concerned of application deadlines and end dates.
- Helps complete narrative, technical and financial reports (including all federal financial reporting requirements) and all other additional deliverables as required by grantor.
- Offers complex and technical support services.
- Helps to create and maintain tracking mechanisms.
- Adds new awards and track deliverables and end dates in the grant system.
- Helps enforce and communicate currently in-development processes by developing risk profiles for each grant and creating contingency plans.
- Helps communicate all new grant processes and plans to the agency.
- Develops alignment between agency and divisional goals, objectives, strategies and current grants.
- Primary point of contact for programs regarding the operating grant budget status.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in applied analytics, accounting, computer science, information systems, or a related field and 2 years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fiscal Data Analytics
- Conducting In-depth Research
- Business Analytics
Entry-level database management skills for systems such as Microsoft Access and Oracle Database to help collect and utilize data for grant writing and reporting.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to conduct research on complex, multifaceted subject areas and maintain information on varied and changing topics.
• Ability to create and deliver professional and convincing presentations.
• Ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines and continuously changing priorities.
• Ability to adapt and learn in new environments.
• Demonstrated efficiency in written and spoken communication to diverse and varied audiences, specifically with the intent to teach and build relationships.
• Attention to detail and independent time management skills.
• Independent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adequately take direction and work amicably as a team.
• Ability to amicably work well and build productive working relationships with a varied and diverse group of people.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Five years’ experience working in grant administration.
- Three years’ experience working for a Washington state agency.
- Two years’ experience with process improvement strategies such as Lean/Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with Workday software.
- Demonstrated familiarity with grant management systems to help establish a routing and accessible storage system for DVA grants.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance.
- Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- Must maintain regular and reliable attendance and follow proper call-in procedures.
- Must successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory, annual, in-service, and other required training.
- Must become familiar and comply with all DVA policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
- Must sign the confidentiality statement for all employees.
- Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
- Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
