RENTON, Wash. —Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was shot during an attempted robbery on Friday evening in Renton.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Burnett Avenue South.
According to witnesses, the suspect is described as a Black man in his 20s, wearing red clothing on both his top and bottom.
Investigators said the victim, a 57-year-old woman, had just used an ATM when the suspect tried to steal her purse. During the struggle, the suspect took the purse and then shot the woman.
She was transported to a hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately available.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been located, police said.The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said they will release more details as they become available.
